I think I saw our girl flirt. Not sure, but it sure looked like it to me.
This particular office keeps a small frig with bottled water in the waiting room for patients. I asked my girl if she wanted one and she said sure.
When I handed her the bottle she turned to the 20-something man seated on the couch next to her and said, "Excuse me, do you think you could help me open this?"
The gentleman obliged and she thanked him and someone else had to pull my jaw up from the floor.
Is my girl flirting? It sure looked that way to me.
Holy bejesus. A flirting teenager. Who'd have thought it possible?
Update: At a suitable time I asked our girl about it and she said, and I quote: "Eeek" (eyeroll) "Oh brother." So I must have read this right, no?

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my DD is 10 and is starting to interact with strangers more. Like you, my mouth probably needs picking up from the floor. She small-talks with receptionists, kids at the park, salespeople, and now, most of my friends!
I found the AmericanGirl "guides". We purchased the "A Smart Girl's Guide to Knowing What to Say: Finding the Words to Fit Any Situation", which is fantastic for helping jump start conversations, social segues, etc. The illustrations are done with cartoons, but they are not childish. Similar guides are available for A Girl's Guide to Manners, A Girl's Guide to Money, Starting Middle School, and a few others.

Thanks for your comments! Sorry for the slow response on them . . . I was getting back to school and it takes up all my attention . . .
My girl is very keen on American Girl magazine, so I will look up those guides. She learns by reading the advice in the American Girl quizzes. She also started a social skills group, so I'll keep you all posted on that front!
